Handmade Paper

In the year 1935, Faizpur district of Congress in the national convention at Jalgaon, Mr. Krishnaji Bapuji Joshi showed the hand paper made from Sarki to the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhiji. The father of the nation liked the hand paper made from Sarki very much. After that, with the inspiration of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, for research and experimental work about the hand paper industry, Mr. Seat was made available to Krishnaji Bapuji Joshi. The work of the Handicraft Institute is continuously going on in three departments as follows.
  • 1. Research Department: In this department, research and experimental work is done about the tissue industry. In this department, research work on different types of paper has been done by conducting trials of different types of paper from different raw materials. Also in this department there is an approved laboratory of Maharashtra government and in this laboratory papers from all over India government, semi-government and private organizations come for examination. The paper inspection report is given to the concerned by charging a fee as decided by the Board.
  • 2. Training Department: In this department two different types of training are provided about the Handicraft Industry as follows.
  • A. Handicraft Making Training: This training imparts training in making different types of handi paper. The duration of this training is one year. In this training, various dyes, chemicals and other related information required for paper production are imparted.
  • B. Paper Conversion Training: In this training, different types of products like notebooks, registers, files, folders and different types of pockets, paper bags etc. are made from finished paper. Training is given to prepare. The duration of this training is generally two months.
  • 3. Production Department: This department was established in the year 1940 by the auspicious hand of Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Shri Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Various types of hand paper are manufactured in this department. The state constitution of India is written on the hand paper prepared in this department. Also, the wedding card of Shri Rajivji Gandhi and Mrs. Soniaji Gandhi has been printed on the handmade paper prepared in this department and the handmade paper prepared in this department has also been used for the personal letterhead and visiting cards of Shri Rajivji Gandhi and Mrs. Soniaji Gandhi. A large amount of employment has been generated from this department.
