Establishment Of Board

Maharashtra State Khadi and Village Industries Board has been established on 11th April 1960 by the Government of Maharashtra to promote Khadi and Village Industries in the State of Maharashtra, develop their organization and regulate them under the Bombay Khadi and Village Industries Act, 1960 (as per Bombay Act No.19 of 1960). The board is totally autonomous.

Purpose

Composition of the board

According to the provisions of Section 4(1) and (2) of the Bombay Khadi and Village Industries Act, 1960 (Bombay Act No. 19 of 1960), the chairman and the members are appointed by the government. The government of Maharashtra appoints a non-governmental minimum of 5 and a non-governmental maximum of 7 members on the board who are associated with the khadi village industry and who have experience in the workings of the khadi village industry. The Chief Executive Officer acts as the Member Secretary of the Board. The Chief Executive Officer of the Board of Officers in the Indian Administrative Service is appointed by the government.
The terms and conditions of service of the members under Section 4 shall be such as may be prescribed in the service allowances

District Committee

A District Committee is established in every district of the state to exert more effective influence in the rural areas. It includes the appointment of a non-governmental person as state to exert more effective influence in the rural areas. It includes the appointment of a non-governmental person as chairman, to be appointed by the board with the approval of the state government. Chairman of Social Welfare Department of Zilla Parishad, Chairman of District Central Committee, Representative of District Lid Committee—three members, besides three non-governmental persons, at least one of whom shall belong to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, or Nomadic Tribes, and at least one of them shall be a woman member. If there is, three members namely District Deputy Registrar, Co-operative Societies, General Manager/District Industries Centre, District Social Welfare Officer and District Village Industries Officer of the Board act as member secretaries.
The composition and powers and functions of the District Committee have been determined under Section 7.
